At room temperature, 16.2 g (0.1 mol) of valerophenylone and 30.9 g (0.3 mol) of sodium bromide were added to a 500 mL round-bottom flask, stirred evenly, then 24 g (0.2 mol) of 30% hydrochloric acid was added, and 19 g (0.15 mol) of 30% hydrogen peroxide was slowly added dropwise. After the addition was completed, the reaction was continued for 1-2 h. After the reaction was completed by TLC monitoring, stirring was stopped, the mixture was allowed to stand for stratification, and washed with saturated sodium carbonate and saturated brine, respectively. The organic phases were combined, concentrated, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate to obtain 2-bromo-1-phenyl-1-pentanone, a bright yellow oily liquid with a yield of 95% and a purity of 98% (HPLC method).
